[Apex Plastic Surgery Real Story] Rhinoplasty Using Postauricular Fascia (Revision Rhinoplasty)
This patient had undergone rhinoplasty at another institution where an L-shaped silicone implant was inserted. Over time, the silicone implant became visible through the skin and subsequently hardened and contracted.
In such cases, there is a risk that the nasal tip may become upturned, leading to a "pig snout" deformity, and the silicone implant could even protrude through the skin. Therefore, Apex Plastic Surgery performed revision rhinoplasty using autologous tissue (fascia from behind the ear).
Some may believe that using autologous tissue instead of silicone offers less dramatic results for achieving a high, defined nasal bridge and tip. However, we simply replaced the implant with complication-free autologous tissue instead of silicone. The aesthetic effects are identical, and not only are concerns about side effects eliminated, but as the tissue integrates over time, it becomes so natural that it can be mistaken for the patient's original nose.
In fact, rhinoplasty using autologous tissue involves a more complex procedure (due to the process of harvesting the autologous tissue), and unlike silicone,
